| Who?
My name is Tom Tucker and I have cancer.
What? In January 2004,
I was diagnosed with a brain tumour and several months later a
significant portion was resected from my head. I now undergo frequent
check ups to monitor the development of the remaining tumour.
Following my first post operative check up in December 2004, I
wanted to become more proactive by helping raise awareness and
charitable donations to fund brain tumour research and treatment
initiatives. As a result T4T began. All funds raised will be donated
to appropriate organizations for research to help find a cure
for brain tumours.
Where? In 2005 I raced
in Ironman events in Australia, Canada and the United States.
All events were successfully completed and helped raise awareness
and donations to help find a cure for brain tumours. The plan
in 2007 is to ride in the 2007
Tour of Courage. To see photos of the ride please click

Why?
One in three people will develop some form of cancer in their
lifetime. Due to advances in cancer detection and treatment almost
two out of three cancer patients now survive. Even though brain
tumours represent a small proportion of all cancer cases, unfortunately
the survival rate is very low. It is the leading cause of cancer
death in children and one of the most difficult adult cancers
to treat.
